dick bukakke is the co-author of three plagiarized novels, hell of a guy
(slow poke, u.k. and polly girl books, u.s.), twenty get ya forty (guest
pass press), and hold back, hurt bad (catbird publishing). his poetry and
essays have appeared in black warrior, glimmer train, elbow tit review,
atlantic monthly and urban desires. his short collection, strange vag, won
119th place in the drue heinz literature contest. he attended queens college
briefly before he was expelled for selling lsd. the notes compiled here for
running away from her sunshine were found in dick's mother's new york city
apartment months after his disappearance where he had been living for the
last ten years of his life as an auto mechanic. he was last seen in phuket,
thailand roughly march 2003 with his brother sly shortly after completing
his last short story entitled, evil coot. the whereabouts of both men are
unknown.
