rob mclennan lives & writes in Ottawa, Canada's glorious capital, even though he was born there. The author of ten poetry collections, he has edited numerous anthologies including side/lines: a new Canadian poetics and Groundswell: best of above/ground press, 1993-2003. a delay tactic is such

four corners of the universe & round room,
no shadow; shows
the letterbox more for what it aint-

am i feeling sociable today
pick up someone elses paper
from the tray; not
an end or a beginning but a line

a song you sing when nothing comes,
nothing else, take
this bad news away

if i could call this anything,
the long snow wipes across the fore:
