Mark Kanak is a writer and translator splitting time between Chicago and Berlin. His translations and work have appeared (or are upcoming) in various journals, including Prague Literary Review, Umelec, Text's Bones, POM2 , Big Bridge (Anthology of Midwest Writers), traverse, Gam, Generator, nth position, 3 a.m., thee flat bike, foam:e, Ugly Tree and so on. The e-book, numbers, was published by poetic inhalation in 2004 and abstürze / crashes will appear with xPressed in Spring 2005. Recent translations (into English) include Helicopter Hysteria by Heinrich Dubel, selected work from Austrian author Peter Pessl including his book of short stories, Aquamarine, (into German), Schlitzrosäugig Verschlingen Schatten by Matthew Wascovich / Elisa Ambrogio (Slow Toe Press) and short stories by Bulgarian author Zdravka Evtimova.
