Paulo da Costa was born in Luanda, Angola and raised in Portugal.
He is the editor of filling Station magazine in Calgary. His first
book of fiction, The Scent of a Lie was published in 2002 (Ekstasis
Editions-Canada) and won the 2003 Commonwealth Writers Prize - Best
First Book, Caribbean and Canada region. In Portuguese, he has a forthcoming
collection of poetry, Notas-de-Rodapé (Black Sun Editores).
His poetry and fiction have been published in literary magazines around
the world and translated to Portuguese, Spanish, Slovenian and Italian.
