volume 1, 2005
#010 lauren simone is a woman of many (mostly healthy) obsessions, including anatomy and raphael. she loves the sweetness of pumpkin, hearts salads of any sort, and acknowledges the divinity of apple vinaigrette; and given a bit more time, will most likely add these to her obsessions list.
#009 john bartlett’s works range from figurative to photocopy; from collage to constructed to the purely abstract, and have engaged with ideas and subjects as diverse as heaven and earth, hip hop and video games, a gold-mad doomed explorer, and the intersection of water with sky.
#008 george hambov could've been a dude in one of those kooky geopolitical analysis 'think-tanks'. instead, he opted for a life of skateboarding, saturday morning cartoons, comic books, h.r. giger freakiness, and wheat-pasted posters in the garage.
#007 darin bendall is a thirty-two year old man-child, an everyday-fancyboy as far as food's concerned. despite seeming like a considerate and loving fellow (lucky wife!), he brazenly admits that he'd lie just to see what the future is like . . . can you believe that? gosh! and he seemed so nice.
#006 catherine insch is into toys, children's books and 7" vinyl, and yearns for a room with a view, and plenty of table. she just completed a bachelor of fine arts in brisbane, where it all began many moons ago with that girl at primary school who drew a picture of a horse.
#005 anne michaux is from luxembourg, lives in berlin, and is married to a dutchman. when she's not too busy dreaming of living somewhere warm and sunny, or of having the world's most ideal art workspace, she makes 'worlds', takes a few snaps of them, and then destroys them.
#004 javier gonzález illustrates for children, using acrylic, permanent ink, and digital colouring, and has illustrated more than 30 books. he sees "no inconveniences in taking a trip to the future", is a fan of the baked bean jaffle and chocolate mousse, and grew up in buenos aires.
#003 matt furie draws in coloured pencils but also likes pen and ink and paint. the first work of art he ever loved was "a white, dog-like luck-dragon that flies around at high speeds and grants wishes". he has no idea what the hell a jaffle is, but is a nice chap so you shouldn't hold it against him.
#002 57 Even is hypocritical and self depreciating, is fond of sushi and good table manners, and has a thing against guys wearing sandals and such. he's a graphic designer and printmaker who's not concerned with the past or the future - he's living for the now baby!
#001 emma kidd specialises in multi-plate colour photographic etching, and she's trying to crack the french art market! formerly of sydney, emma "visited a clairvoyant once to find out things, found, in hindsight, it wasn't entirely the best idea…"
